NEW YORK — The Diversity Action Alliance (DAA), a cross-industry coalition dedicated to increasing recruitment, retention, and representation in management for people of color and other under-represented groups in the communications field, has promoted Carmella Glover from executive director to president. In this new role, Glover will continue to drive forward the organization’s mission, including day-to-day oversight of strategic initiatives, programming and fundraising. The organization also added three new board leaders. They are board chair Dr. Denise Hill, associate professor at Elon University’s School of Communications; vice-chair Charlene Wheeless, principal at Charlene Wheeless, & senior advisor equity & justice APCO Worldwide; and treasurer Dr. Candace Steele Flippin, chief communications officer, Acuity Brands.

NEW YORK — Marketing and communications search firm Monday Talent is partnering with HBCU Morgan State University’s Department of Strategic Communication (SCOM) to give students a head start as they embark on their careers after graduation. The firm will work with SCOM students on building winning resumes, enhancing their professional social media presence, and mastering interviewing techniques. Monday Talent’s coaching will be embedded in academic classes, as opposed to out-of-class workshops, so students can make greater connections between what they are learning and how to apply that knowledge to business-critical work in agencies.

CHICAGO — Butler Positioning and Communications, Montevideo, Uruguay, has been elected to partnership in PROI Worldwide, a global consortium of entrepreneurial communications agencies with partners in 50 countries. Alejandro Butler founded the agency in 2020, after nearly 30 years of experience in the Uruguay PR market. Their clients now include a range of businesses and organizations in B-to-B, technology and consumer products.
