DALLAS — AT&T has hired Bacardi’s K.C. Kavanagh as its new chief communications officer.

Kavanagh, who joined AT&T this week, is responsible for all aspects of corporate communications and reputation management. Kavanagh replaces Larry Solomon, who is retiring, and reports to AT&T Latin America CEO and global marketing officer Lori Lee.

Kavanagh joins AT&T after more than five years at Bacardi, where, as CCO, she was responsible for developing strategic internal and external corporate communications to support the company’s efforts to drive global growth. Before that, Kavanagh was with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, where she led global communications for the hotel giant and its 11 brands.

“She has broad and deep experience in all aspects of communications — from storytelling, media relations, crisis and social media to financial, executive and employee communications,” Lee said in announcing Kavanagh’s appointment. “In particular, K.C. has an outstanding track record of developing and executing creative communications initiatives that drive business results and engage consumers and employees.

“K.C. is a terrific addition to our leadership team and will play a critical role in helping us strengthen our reputation and brand with all stakeholders,” she said.
