SINGAPORE —Lenovo has selected Zeno to handle regional PR duties in Asia-Pacific, PRovoke Media can reveal, following a competitive review that also featured incumbent firm WE and Golin.

The decision sees Zeno expand its remit with Lenovo, after serving as global agency of record from North America since 2017. The one-year assignment begins on 1 April.

The review covered Lenovo's Asia-Pacific HQ remit, previously handled by WE Communications, which was shortlisted for the final round alongside Zeno and Golin. Neither local market duties, which include BCW in China and WE in several other Asian markets, nor Hoffman's remit supporting Lenovo's Data Center Group, were part of the review.

"The agencies all submitted fantastic proposals, making this a very difficult decision," said Lenovo Asia-Pacific communications head Genevieve Hilton. "This was a great opportunity for us to get to know more about the capabilities of PR firms in the region."

The review aimed to consolidate the various agencies that support Lenovo's PC and smart device business at its Asia-Pacific HQ. In addition to WE, which led strategy, media relations and content, Zeno and the Hoffman Agency also handled aspects of work.

"It’s an exciting time to be expanding our work with Lenovo, as consumers and enterprises alike are using technology in innovative new ways," said Zeno Asia-Pacific president Paul Mottram. "Lenovo itself is transforming into a service-led business, giving us new opportunities to tell great stories about the potential of smarter technology for all."

Zeno's assignment covers communications strategy, media relations and content, executive social, tech analyst relations, intranet development, and internal communications.

The PR rethink follows Lenovo's broader corporate reorganisation. as the world's top PC seller announced record revenues and profits. A new business group will house the company's solutions and services teams, sitting alongside intelligent devices and infrastructure solutions.
