NEW YORK — Edelman Bay Area leader Margot Edelman will be heading to New York, where she will serve as deputy general manager of the firm’s largest global office.

In the newly created role, Edelman (who is CEO Richard Edelman’s daughter) will oversee operational excellence, marketing, and new business efforts for the agency’s 800-person New York office. She will also oversee Edelman’s New York corporate team.

Edelman, who ran the Bay Area hub for the last seven years, will report to Oscar Suris, who joined the agency in February as president of the New York office following the departure of Deirdre Latour. Latour has since joined Madison Square Garden Entertainment as CCO.

Meantime, Jordan Rittenberry, a 15-year Edelman vet, will succeed Edelman as general manager of the agency’s 175-person Bay Area operation.

Rittenberry most recently served as chairman of the Middle East & Africa, as which he was responsible for nearly 200 Edelman staff members across five offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Riyadh. He will report to Edelman US CEO Lisa Osborne Ross.

Edelman and Rittenberry will assume their new roles June 1.

“During their long tenures with the company, both Margot and Jordan have embodied the Edelman values of relentless pursuit of excellence, curiosity, courage and impact,” said Ross. “I have the utmost confidence in the impact Margot will have in New York, given the impact she’s had leading the Bay Area, and am thrilled to see Jordan in this next chapter. They are both strategic-minded operators who love the business as much as they love Edelman. I can’t wait to see how my high expectations are exceeded with enthusiasm, excitement, and excellence.”
