MINNEAPOLIS — Medtronic has hired American Express’ Jane Di Leo to lead communications across the Americas.

Di Leo will be leading a critical region for the healthcare technology company, which generates $18 billion in revenue and has 55% of market share across the US, Canada and Latin America.

In addition to overseeing regional comms, Di Leo will be part of the global communications and corporate marketing function’s executive council, which is tasked with furthering the ongoing transformation of Medtronic and its comms unit.

Di Leo succeeds Amy Jo Meyer, who was named VP of corporate communications late last year.

Before Medtronic, Di Leo spent more than eight years with American Express, most recently serving as corporate affairs and communications VP and chief of staff. Earlier in her career she led PR and internal comms for Tough Mudder.

The addition of Di Leo is the latest in a series of recent moves being made as part of a larger restructuring of Medtronic’s global communications and corporate marketing group under Torod Neptune, who joined Medtronic as chief communications officer a year ago.

Those moves include the addition of new data and content leaders to the function in January. Last July, Valerie Corr Hanserd left BP after 17 years to lead Medtronic’s global operations & supply chain communications.
