WASHINGTON — The Messina Group has acquired Segal Communications, expanding both its capabilities and West Coast presence.

San Francisco-based Segal Communications will remain intact, with founder Sarah Segal continuing to lead the operation as a partner.

Segal brings expertise in lifestyle and consumer tech communications to TMG, a Washington consultancy founded by former Obama aide Jim Messina. The agency’s clients range from startups to national retail chains.

Launched in 2018, Segal is the latest addition to Messina’s stable of companies. Others include corporate communications specialist Greenbrier Partners, which TMG acquired in 2018; and Amplify, a media buying agency created by Messina.

“Sarah has built an agency that shares the same culture and entrepreneurial values as ours, along with deep expertise to complement our client suite of services,” Jim Messina said. “Her background as a journalist arms her with an invaluable perspective that we anticipate to be critical as newsrooms continue to transition to digital formats.”
