NEW YORK—MDC Partners, parent company of public relations firms Allison+Partners, kwittken+company and Sloane & Company, has hired Michael Bassik as managing director and president of digital operations. Bassik comes to MDC from Burson-Marsteller, where he served as managing director and chairman of the firm's US digital practice, as well as CEO of its full-service integrated marketing and advertising firm Proof Integrated Communications.

In his new role, Bassik will be responsible for partnering with MDC's public relations, corporate communications, and financial communications consulting firms, and supporting the MDC Partners network of firms in all areas of digital and social media strategy. He will work closely with Andre Coste, CFO of the MDC Partner Network, as well as with managing directors of individual agencies.

Prior to joining the WPP group of agencies in 2011, Bassik co-founded DSPolitical, a leading digital political advertising network. He previously served as served as senior vice president of global strategy group, chief digital officer of Air America Media, and vice president of MSHC Partners where he built and managed the nation's first Democratic online political marketing agency, attracting high-profile clients including John Kerry for President, Hillary Clinton for President, MoveOn.org and the United Nations Foundation.

He has worked with clients such as Intel, Ford, Bank of America, Coca-Cola, HP, IBM and the Democratic National Committee.
