NEW YORK — Michelle Giuda is returning to Weber Shandwick as a public affairs EVP after two years leading the U.S. State Department’s global communications operation.
In the newly-created role of EVP of geopolitical strategy and risk, Giuda is charged with helping clients address the impact of geopolitical issues on their business and reputation.
“Geopolitics touches all of our clients — across sectors and around the world — and as a leading expert on international relations and global communications, Michelle will add incredible value to our firm as we strive to solve bigger problems and deliver work that makes a difference,” said Weber Shandwick president and CEO Gail Heimann.
Giuda, who first joined Weber Shandwick in 2013, was running the firm’s global communications when she left in early 2018 to lead the State Department’s global communications strategy and operations as an assistant secretary. Jill Tannenbaum now leads Weber Shandwick's marketing and communications.
While in Washington, Giuda also assumed the responsibilities of the under secretary of state for public diplomacy & public affairs. Earlier in her career, she worked for GOPAC, a Republican training organization as its communications director and as Newt Gingrich’s 2012 presidential campaign’s national deputy press secretary.
