LONDON — Global policy and communications advisory firm Milltown Partners has made its first acquisition since it was founded 10 years ago, buying UK technology policy consultancy Taso Advisory for an undisclosed sum.

Milltown Partners, which has teams in London, New York and San Francisco, already supports companies, founders and investors in the technology sector with communications, policy work and research. The acquisition puts its global headcount at around 125.

CEO Jonathan Lenson said policy strategy had become an “increasingly important part of our work in recent years, particularly for our technology clients,” including around issues such as AI, online safety, privacy and digital competition.

Founded in 2019 by Ben Greenstone – a former private secretary to the UK government minister for digital and the creative industries – Taso Advisory helps clients including Adobe, Nextdoor and Niantic shape the technology policy environment through policy development and stakeholder engagement.

The seven-strong Taso Advisory team will become part of Milltown Partners before the end of the year. The combined team’s offer will include strategic communications, policy strategy, intelligence and research.

Milltown Partners partner Rebecca Fitchett (pictured) said: “We’re combining Taso’s relationships and tech policy expertise with Milltown’s research and communications capabilities, to help clients meet their biggest tech policy challenges and opportunities”.

Greenstone added: “We are firmly in the decade of tech regulation. As Milltown Partners, we will continue to deliver real value for our clients as they navigate the issues that are most critical to their businesses.”
