He started his career at local independent Logos Public Relations, which became Porter Novelli New Zealand at a time when PN was acquiring the best PR firms in several international markets. He was managing director of the New Zealand operation and in 2001 was named chief executive of Porter Novelli Australia and New Zealand and was also a member of the Porter Novelli international board.
In 2003, he and a selection of other PN veterans left to form Senate Communications, which quickly established itself as the market’s leading independent, with a focus on corporate reputation management, employee communications, issues management and healthcare—with a focus on strategy and the C-suite.
Four years later, Senate merged with Melbourne-based Scaffidi Hugh-Jones, creating a firm that spanned the trans-Tasman markets, maintaining a focus on corporate affairs, with a team of more than 50 people across the two markets.
Green is also vice-chairman of the Asia-Pacific Crisis Group for PROI Worldwide, the world's largest global international partnership of independent public relations firms and has experience in financial communications, having led the team that managed the successful $1.7 billion Mighty River Power share market listing in 2013.
