SAN FRANCISCO —  Katie Huang Shin has stepped down from her role leading AxiCom’s North America operation, a move that coincides with the installation of Matt Lackie as the firm’s new global CEO.

“It’s been my honor to serve our people and clients. As a team, we added meaning and purpose to three different brands, elevated the agency's visibility in the region, and evolved our portfolio and capabilities,” Shin wrote in a LinkedIn post. “We also helped our people reach new career heights and guided many client transformations.

“To everyone who has been part of this journey — thank you — for the opportunity of working together. I will be cheering you on,” she wrote. Shin did not elaborate on her next move.

Shin’s departure comes less than two years after she joined the BCW tech agency as its North America president.

It also comes as Matt Lackie, most recently Golin’s tech practice leader, formally takes the helm of the agency as global CEO, the latest step in the restructuring of the agency’s global leadership team.  AxiCom has not had a global CEO since Cathy Pittham left the firm in 2018.

San Francisco-based Lackie will be responsible for driving global growth of the agency, which has 14 offices worldwide. His remit also includes strengthening AxiCom’s integrated capabilities, leading key client counsel and building out a culture that attracts and retains employees.

BCW would not comment on the leadership moves.
