NEW YORK —  Thomas Crampton, Social@Ogilvy's Asia-Pacific director, has been promoted into the role previously held by John Bell, as global managing director.

Bell -- a 13-year Ogilvy veteran -- departed the company in November for a senior marketing role at Travelers Insurance. Bell was credited for leading the successful rollout of Social@Ogilvy.

In this role, Crampton will provide leadership on social for all disciplines globally, with an emphasis on the integration of owned, earned and paid media, as well as content creation.

Since joining Ogilvy in 2009, Crampton has spearheaded the growth of Ogilvy’s Asia-Pacific social media offering from a few team members to more than 200 staff across 23 cities in 19 Asian territories. Client billings in Asia are expected to accelerate by more than 40 percent in 2013.

“Social selling, social shopping, social brand development and social influence will continue to be major growth drivers and an essential part of Ogilvy’s integrated approach,” said Miles Young, worldwide chairman and CEO of Ogilvy & Mather.
