NEW YORK — Omnicom Public Relations Group has bolstered its public affairs and political consulting offerings with the acquisition of two specialist agencies — Plus Communications and FP1 Strategies.

Plus, an Arlington, Virginia-based public affairs firm, specializes in corporate and crisis communications with focuses on coalition building, grassroots mobilization, advertising, digital engagement and media relations.

Plus was created in 2019 by the founders of political consultancy FP1 to handle its public affairs and comms work. Founders Danny Diaz, Jon Downs and Terry Nelson launched FP1 in 2011.

“Over past 2 ½ years OPRG has placed strategic bets on corporate and public affairs. With Plus Communications and FP1, we can scale even faster with complementary expertise and employees,” said OPRG global CEO Chris Foster.

Both agencies’ management teams will remain in place and will continue to operate under their own name. The acquisitions will boost OPRG’s headcount by more than 200 staff, including roughly 20 partners. The agencies’ teams will remain intact.

Plus and FP1 join OPRG’s existing roster of public affairs DDC, GMMB, Mercury, Portland and Vox. DDC, which Omnicom acquired in 2014, was the PR group’s most recent addition. The group also includes FleishmanHillard, Ketchum and Porter Novelli.

“Growth is a result of investing in great people who do great work for clients,” said Foster. “Plus Communications and FP1 will help OPRG build on our strong momentum in the corporate and public affairs space by enabling us to work across the full spectrum and do even more for our clients.”
