CHICAGO—Pete Marino has been named chief public affairs and communications officer at the MillerCoors, effective September 1.

Marino will succeed Nehl Horton, who is leaving MillerCoors to accept a senior role at a publicly listed company. He has served as vice president of communications at MillerCoors since 2012 and according to a memo from chief executive Tom Long to employees “has led a significant talent upgrade in the function, launched the highly acclaimed MCTV platform and delivered successful major events like the MillerCoors distributor convention and fall distributor meetings.”

Marino joined MillerCoors in 2012 from his role as president of Olson’s public relations operations, having sold his Chicago-based firm Dig Communications to the integrated agency in 2010. Earlier, he was a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group and manager of marketing communications for Miller Brewing Company.

Horton held senior communications positions at Miller Brewing Company and MillerCoors since 2005. Before that he was head of global media relations at Novartis.
