OAKLAND, CA — Pacific Gas and Electric has hired X, the Moonshot Factory's David McCulloch to lead the California utility’s marketing and communications.

As chief marketing and communications officer, McCulloch will oversee how PG&E communicates with its 16 million customers across Northern and Central California. That includes keeping residents informed about PG&E’s energy delivery systems, ways to save money, and PG&E’s efforts to reach climate goals.

McCulloch will also oversee PG&E marketing efforts driving participation in energy efficiency and income-dependent discount programs and supporting electric vehicle owners.

McCulloch brings over two decades of experience to the role, including holding senior leadership roles at major US corporations. He most recently was with Alphabet’s X moonshot, where he served as head of communications for Tapestry, X’s moonshot project to decarbonize the electric grid.
 
Before that, McCulloch spent two-plus years as Hitachi Vantara’s VP, of corporate communications & corporate marketing. Earlier he served as GE’s digital power CCO and was head of global communications for Cisco.
