KUALA LUMPUR — PRecious Communications has hired Joey Gan to lead its Malaysian operation, as the Southeast Asian consultancy eyes increased growth across the region.

Gan brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, having previously worked at RAPR Mileage Communications and Ogilvy Malaysia. She will aim to double PRecious' current five-person headcount in the country by the end of this year.

PRecious' clients in Malaysia include fintech platform Fave, Palo Alto Networks, and ParkRoyal Hotel & Resorts. "Malaysia’s investment and business ecosystem is witnessing a flurry of activity in recent years," said PRecious CEO Lars Voedisch. "Today, the market is an emerging epicentre for startups and SMEs, and has been attracting brands from all over the world."

The hire comes on the heels of PRecious' recent expansion to the Philippines. The Singapore-headquartered firm's footprint also includes Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

"The talent crunch is real, but it’s not new," said Gan. "Workplaces have become more diverse, with many generational and cultural differences, which often divide more than they unite. With the pandemic thrown into the mix, it’s harder for managers to strike a balance between keeping productivity up and making sure the people’s welfare is taken care of."
