STOCKHOLM — Malin Severin has been appointed as the new leader of Prime Weber Shandwick, as current CEO Therese Bohlin steps down.

Severin, who takes up the role this summer, has worked within the Weber Shandwick stable in Sweden for ten years and has held leadership roles across marketing communications, change communications and strategy. She was latterly deputy CEO of its business intelligence and management consultancy arm, United Minds.

Bohlin steps down after nearly 10 years at Prime Weber Shandwick; she was promoted to CEO in 2018, succeeding Markus Gustafsson. Bohlin had joined the agency from McCann Sweden in 2011, before Prime was acquired by Weber Shandwick in 2014.

In a statement, Prime Weber Shandwick said Bohlin would continue to work alongside Severin into the autumn to ensure a smooth transition and complete client work. She will then take on board level assignments outside the agency.

Severin said: “I could not resist the opportunity to continue to develop one of the world's leading agencies together with my smart, creative and passionate colleagues. Having been part of Prime Weber Shandwick’s management for a long time, this past year was especially rewarding as I partnered with our leadership team to deliver critical, creative solutions amidst the many crises and complexities faced by our clients.”

In February this year, Prime Weber Shandwick hired a new executive creative director, bringing Carl Jannerfeldt back to Sweden after a decade working at advertising agencies in the US. Prime's former head of corporate communications, Frida Dahlgren, recently became the new CEO of Swedish agency Narva.
