BOSTON — Former Massachusetts state Sen. Theresa Murray, the first woman to serve as the legislative body’s president, has joined Rasky Partners as a senior advisor.

As a strategic advisor, Murray is charged with furthering Rasky’s business development and growth opportunities. She has been a member of the firm’s advisory board for the last two years.

Murray also will leverage her governmental expertise and relationships working with Rasky’s public affairs practice, as well as creating strategic global initiatives and partnerships, the agency said.

Murray left the Massachusetts senate in 2015 after 22 years in office, the last eight of which she served as president. She retired when term limits brought her presidency to an end.

Following her departure from thesSenate, Murray founded the firm MassIgnite, which promotes Massachusetts’ emerging economic and technology sectors to international markets.
