LONDON--Premier Farnell, the tech company distributes the revolutionary credit-card sized Raspberry Pi computer, has called in PR agency support.

The UK company has selected EML Wildfire to handle a global brief aimed at building awareness of the brand and its element14 design engineer community.

The campaign will include activity in Europe, North America and APAC, covering strategy, local agency management, traditional media relations as well as social media planning and strategy.

Premier Farnell is one of the two main suppliers of the £22 Raspberry Pi, which began shipping earlier this year.

“As a company which has gone through considerable change in recent years, from a catalogue distributor to a multi-channel electronics business we wanted to bring in an agency that could take our media outreach to the next level," said Premier Farnell global head of PR Ken Leitch.

The element14 community boasts over 100,000 members. EML Wildfire is charged with building awareness of the platform through content generation and social media.

Premier Farnell recorded sales last year of £973.1m and underlying profits of £104.6m. The company distributes its portfolio of products and services throughout Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, and has made several acquisitions in recent years.
