LONDON — AxiCom has been appointed by Sage, the small and mid-sized business accounting, financial, HR and payroll software firm, as its global PR hub after a four-way competitive pitch.

WPP’s global technology agency – which this week unveiled its new brand positioning – will also handle Sage’s PR in eight local markets, including the UK, US, France and Germany, and will support with campaign execution, content creation and earned media relations.  The account, which was previously held by Team Lewis, is believed to be worth seven figures.

British multinational Sage recently shot to the top of the FTSE 100 after publishing its latest full-year results, with revenue of more than £8.2 bilion. AxiCom’s brief includes supporting the firm on its new mission to support the ambition of entrepreneurs around the world in a challenging financial climate.

Sage vice president of corporate communications and reputation David Ginivan said: “We are delighted to officially confirm AxiCom’s appointment. Sage is at an inflection point and our ambition is to tell bolder stories about our purpose, our products, and the difference they make to millions of small and mid-sized businesses around the world. We are excited to have a like-minded partner joining us on this journey.”

AxiCom’s UK managing director Rosie Bannister added: “We are hugely proud to have been chosen by Sage as its PR partner, especially at such an exciting time for the business, and given that we hold many of the same values around culture and communications. We recognise how big a role Sage has to play in determining the future of business, and we’re excited to embark on a long-term relationship that will support these ambitions.”
