GAYDON, ENGLAND — Aston Martin marketing and communications chief Simon Sproule has added regional chairman duties for the automaker's Americas business to his remit, and will relocate to Irvine, California, later this month.

The expansion of his remit comes after Sproule was elevated from marketing and communications director to CMO and VP, roles he will retain overseeing the carmaker's integrated function.

Six of Aston Martin's 12-person executive team take on a regional chairman position — and Sproule has been handed the Americas.

"Given the Americas is our largest region and is the focus of a major brand push, it was a good fit for me to take on the role," Sproule told the Holmes Report. "In addition, locating one of the executive team in our largest market is intended to give the company greater insight into the needs of the market, and support our dealers."

Sproule will continue to report to CEO Andy Palmer, a former Nissan executive who has turned the business around to record two successive quarters of profits for the first time in a decade. The British company, famous for making cars for James Bond, is expected to list as early as next year.

Sproule joined the luxury automaker in 2014 from Tesla, after several years at Nissan, where he became one of the first executives to oversee an integrated PR and marketing function.
