LONDON — Following a five-way competitive pitch, Taylor Herring has been appointed as Subway’s UK consumer PR agency.

Taylor Herring’s appointment follows Subway naming Current Global as its worldwide agency of record last month.

The six-figure account was awarded to Taylor Herring after a three-stage competitive pitch process run through AAR, which last week announced the appointment of Frank founder Andrew Bloch as head of its PR consulting practice.

The agency will deliver a press office service, influencer-led activations, creative collaborations and major brand PR activations for the sandwich franchise’s 2,500 UK restaurants this autumn and throughout 2021.

Subway’s plans for 2021 include the expansion of its vegan menu and celebrating the 25th anniversary of its arrival in the UK: the first store opened in Brighton in 1995. Taylor Herring will activate a national and regional PR programme to drive footfall and brand PR campaigns aimed at the Gen-Z audience.

Taylor Herring’s other food and drink clients have included Greggs, Just Eat and Coca Cola. CEO James Herring said: ‘We’re really excited to be working with Subway. We’ll be working with the marketing team to help the brand stand out from the crowd with newsworthy creative ideas that tap into the fantastic choice and customisation available at Subway for consumers in the UK.”
