MOUNTAIN VIEW, May 2—Bill Fasig, former head of the technology practice at Burson-Marsteller and most recently vice president of corporate communications for Compaq Computer Corporation, has joined e-commerce payment services company VeriSign as senior vice president for corporate marketing.

According to VeriSign president and CEO Stratton Sclavos, “With employees around the world, a trust network of close to 40 global affiliates and millions of customers in every country on the Internet, VeriSign now truly has global reach. Bill’s global branding experience will contribute significantly to our mission of enabling everyone, everywhere to use the Internet with confidence.”
Fasig has more than 17 years of corporate communications experience in both the corporate and agency worlds. Prior to his position at Compaq, he was the chairman and managing director for Burson-Marstellar’s global technology practice and held senior management positions with Apple Computer both in Cupertino, California and Washington, D.C.
