LONDON—Fast-growing UK player Opus Energy is seeking a wide range of agencies to support a more proactive approach to marketing communications.

The energy company has released a broad RFP that covers marketing, PR and a number of other services, including market research, database marketing, loyalty marketing and SEO.

Opus, which supplies energy to 150k UK businesses, has grown rapidly since its launch in 2002, but is now aiming to boost investment in its brand and positioning as a leading independent energy supplier.

Previously, according to sources, the company has focused more on protecting its brand reputation and currently works with FTI Consulting.

The move comes as UK energy firms continue to attract attention for raising prices and providing poor customer service. Opus, by comparison, has maintained a low profile, with sources indicating that the company may now embrace a more active media profile.

It is understood that the company has issued the RFP to a number of groups and specialist firms. Agencies can either bid for the full integrated brief or for specific services.

The assignment is thought to be worth around £1.5m over three years, although this includes media buying.

An Opus representative declined to comment on the review.
