LONDON — The annual Women in Marketing awards is open for entries, including for the PR Communicator of the Year category introduced last year.

The category – developed with PRovoke Media, one of the media partners of the awards – was created to recognise the important role of communications highlighted by the pandemic. Its inaugural winner was Blurred founder and CEO Nik Govier, while Sarah Waddington, managing director of Astute.Work in the UK was highly commended and Amy Brill, head of PR at M&C Saatchi UAE, was commended.

The award is open to female PR specialists in agency or client-side, working anywhere in the world, who can showcase impactful campaigns, as well as their personal and professional achievements, leadership and their contribution to the advancement and promotion of the wider PR and communications industry.

Ade Onilude, founder and CEO of Women in Marketing (WiM), said: “WiM Awards 2021 is one of both reflection and transformation. As we look back on a year like no other, with the effects of the global pandemic affecting women and women’s roles in the workplace and home, we take strength from our theme of ‘hope, humanity, and healing’. Our wellbeing is never more important than it is now, and as we take time to recover and rebuild, it is important that we champion our achievements that have triumphed in the face of difficulties.

“As we move forward, this year’s global awards will focus on the digital transformation – both personally and industry-wide – and how women’s efforts and sheer strength have hugely contributed to shaping the future of the marketing sphere.”

The 2021 judging panel reflects the awards’ global outlook, with judges from around the world, including Lisa Lugo, VP of marketing and creative solutions for Live Nation’s UK & pan-European brand partnerships; Elizabeth del Valle, global head of marketing for YouTube’s gamer and creator communities; Alice Yu Tuebo, digital content lead for Prudential Assurance in Singapore; Leeya Hendricks, CMO at Delta Capita; Caroline Asmussen, global brand strategy lead at ASOS, Claire Gillis, CEO of VMLY&Rx; and PRovoke Media’s EMEA editor Maja Pawinska Sims, a former recipient of the WiM Journalist of the Year award.

Alongside PRovoke Media, the sponsors of the 2020 WiM Awards are digital marketing agency iCrossing, financial management platform Intuit, brand design agency Hands Down, CreativeBrief/Bite, and international engagement consultancy Aquitude.
