LONDON — Weber Shandwick has appointed a new UK head of public affairs, Ella Fallows, who joins the agency after five years at Meta.

Fallows had been the social media giant’s politics and government outreach lead for the UK and Northern Europe since 2018. She previously worked at a range of agencies and organisations including being head of political intelligence at Lexington Communications, and a communications leader at political intelligence firm Dods Group.

In 2012, she founded the Women in Public Affairs Network, and was also recently named to the annual Women in Westminster 100 list.

Fallows said: “Weber Shandwick has a strong strategic approach to integrated public affairs and is uniquely positioned to bring together expertise across the political spectrum, whether that’s through local engagement or agenda-setting campaigns. I am excited to be joining this dynamic team and partnering with our clients through what will undoubtedly be a challenging political landscape over the next couple of years.”

Alongside Fallows’ appointment, Weber Shandwick has announced promotions in its expanded corporate enterprise team for director Gillian Gallanagh, who becomes EVP social impact, and media consultant James Clothier, a former Daily Mail and Sun journalist, has been hired full-time to lead the agency’s media relations offer.

In addition, corporate affairs SVP Stephen Finch is promoted to EVP client experience, strategic planner Tamsin Northridge takes on the role of EVP corporate enterprise strategy, and associate director of public affairs Jodie Hedley will now lead the Scottish public affairs team.

Weber Shandwick’s corporate enterprise managing director Laura Tapper said: “Boosting our corporate enterprise leadership will elevate our commitment to integrated campaigning as we partner with clients to help them navigate the political and societal challenges they are facing.

“Ella’s arrival will significantly enhance our public affairs offering as she brings a wealth of knowledge on creative political campaigning and has also been critical in the forging of a more inclusive public affairs environment. Together with James, Gillian, Tamsin and Jodie, they will collaborate to elevate our combined capabilities in the ever-changing world of reputation management where everything is public and everything is political.”
