SEOUL — Weber Shandwick has hired Steven Koh as managing director for its South Korea operations, following the departure of Juny Lee last month.
Koh joins from SK Group, where he was brand strategy officer for SK geocentric (formerly SK global chemicals), leading domestic and global brand strategy development and communications. He reports to Weber Shandwick Asia-Pacific CEO Tyler Kim, who is also based in Seoul.
Koh replaces Juny Lee, who had led Weber Shandwick Korea since 2019, after joining the firm via the acquisition of Social Link in 2012.
“The needs of our clients today go far beyond the realm of PR," said Kim. "With Steven’s extensive cross disciplinary insights across creative and marketing, I anticipate he will be a powerful catalyst in taking our Korean business to the next level. Our operations in Korea have been a trailblazer in the regional industry for many years; I'm excited to see that reputation flourish and grow under Steven's leadership."
Koh previously held leadership positions at several major agencies, including Wunderman, Ogilvy One and TBWA/NY. He also oversaw Samsung Electronics’ global brand strategy and integrated brand communications for a decade as part of Cheil Worldwide in Seoul and New York.
