LONDON — Iain Bundred, Ogilvy PR's managing director of EMEA, has been named executive director of WPP’s government and public sector practice’s London operation, bringing 10 Downing Street experience to the unit's flagship office.

Bundred will split his time between his current and new roles.  He succeeds Sean Howard, who was upped to global MD of the practice in September.

Before joining Ogilvy, Bundred worked at 10 Downing Street, leading media and communications strategy as former Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s chief political spokesperson. He also served as a Department of Work and Pensions special advisor.

Launched in London in 2012, WPP’s government and public sector practice was created with a focus on working with Whitehall policymakers and agencies on communications strategies, and the multiple facets of devising and implementing them. The unit has spawned the rollout of other offices in Brussels, Australia, India, Singapore, the US and the Middle East.
