Two years ago, Craig Buchholz gave up one of the most influential positions in the public relations business—head of corporate communications at Procter & Gamble—to join car giant General Motors, where he succeeded automotive industry veteran Tony Cervone and reports directly to GM chairman and CEO Mary Barra. His full title is SVP global communications and corporate giving, as his role covers the firm's philanthropic efforts.

Buchholz had spent six years with P&G, which named him CCO in June 2018 as part of a larger reorganization that included combining its brand and corporate communications functions. He also led the company’s global healthcare communications. He joined P&G in 2014 as VP of global communications,.

Prior to P&G, Buchholz spent 20 years in the pharmaceutical business, working in both agency and corporate environments, including with Merck, Johnson & Johnson and what is now Pfizer. In those companies, he held multiple leadership positions in corporate, internal and executive communications.
