Charles Hufnagel

Communications Director

The eighth-largest retailer in the world by revenue appointed Paris Institute of Political Studies graduate Charles Hufnagel to head up comms across the group and France in September 2020.

Hufnagel joined Carrefour after three years as communications advisor to Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, and before this he headed up comms for companies including French multinationals Compagnie de Saint-Gobain and major nuclear energy player Areva.

He joined Areva when it was created in 2001 and headed up press, before becoming deputy director of comms and taking up roles in Abu Dhabi and South Korea. He left to spend two years as comms advisor to Alain Juppe, minister of defense and then minister of foreign affairs, before rejoining Areva as director of comms.
