Julie Kitcher

Chief Sustainability Officer & Communications
Airbus
US

Since Julie Kitcher was named to lead the communications function at Airbus in 2019, the aerospace company’s chief competitor, Boeing, has gone through five CCOs (Anne Toulouse, Niel Golightly, Greg Smith, Ed Dandridge and now Brian Besanceney, for those who are counting). But while its rival has lurched from crisis to crisis, Airbus has enjoyed an improved reputation, thanks at least in part to its focus on sustainability (decarbonization in particular) and societal value.

Kircher serves as a member of the Airbus executive committee, reporting to CEO Guillaume Faury. She leads the articulation of Airbus’ purpose: to pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world. She has also played a key role in the company’s transformation agenda. And in 2021 she was appointed chair of the Airbus Foundation, shaping its work in humanitarian support, environmental action and youth development.

Kircher was previously the executive vice president communications and corporate affairs, also serving as the CEO’s chief of staff, prior to which she was head of investor relations and financial communication at Airbus.
