A veteran of the professional services sector, Michael Stewart spent 12 years in the senior communications role at McKinsey & Company, including almost a decade in his as partner and global communications director, building the firm's first in-house communications operation across 50 countries, before departing to head the EMEA region at Edelman for four years and then taking on a senior counseling role there.

Stewart joined PwC in 2019 as global corporate affairs and communications leader, responsible for overseeing corporate communications (internal and external), regulatory affairs and public policy. He serves on the global markets leadership team and works directly with global chairman Mohamed Kande on communications issues.

What are the communications industry's biggest challenges and opportunities in the year ahead?
Companies and organisations are facing unprecedented levels of disruption on multiple fronts, and increasingly facing stakeholder expectations that are a zero-sum game. As leaders of corporate affairs, we are often the ‘spider in the web’ that help our executive teams to see across the silos that often exist across the c-suite. Our role in informing and shaping the big strategic and operational decisions of our organisations has never been greater.
