WASHINGTON, DC--Bill Burton, former White House deputy press secretary and head of the pro-Obama Priorities USA Action super PAC, has joined Global Strategy Group (GSG).

Burton arrives at GSG after the public affairs firm conducted polling for Priorities USA Action during its successful campaign to re-elect President Obama.

As senior strategist and founder of the super PAC, Burton played a pivotal role in the election. Business Insider named Priorities USA Action the “most effective Super PAC of the 2012 election cycle”, while National Journal noted that the group, “despite spending far less money, ultimately proved to have a bigger impact.”

Burton previously worked as national press secretary for Obama’s first presidential campaign, after which he served as deputy White House press secretary and special assistant to the President.

During the 2006 electoral cycle, a year when Democrats won a historic number of seats to take the majority in the House, Burton worked as Rahm Emanuel’s communications director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Before that, Burton served as a communications adviser to Congressman Dick Gephardt and US Senators John Kerry and Tom Harkin.

“Bill has played a major role in two successful presidential elections, advised and represented the President of the United States, and has a deep understanding of the communications and political landscapes in Washington,” said GSG CEO Jon Silvan. “He will be a tremendous asset to our team and to our clients.”
