SAN RAMON, CA — Chevron has hired TrailRunner International’s Sean McCormack to lead communications.

In the newly created VP of communications role, McCormack will be responsible for corporate and brand communications, reputation management, and employee and executive communications.

McCormack will report to VP of corporate affairs Al Williams. He formally joins the energy giant on Nov. 1.

McCormack has spent most of the last five years at TrailRunner, where he served as a managing director. Before that, he spent nine years as Boeing’s VP of communications.

Earlier in his career, McCormack was the National Security Council spokesman and deputy White House press secretary from 2001 to 2005. He served as assistant secretary of state for public affairs and state department spokesman before that.

“Sean brings fresh perspective and a diverse background to the company and has a track record of building strong teams and helping organizations navigate complex issues,” Williams said. “He will build on our strong internal communications program and I look forward to working with him to advance Chevron’s brand and reputation.”
