SINGAPORE—Cohn & Wolfe has named Angelina Ong as president of its Asia-Pacific operations.

Ong joins the firm following a 20-year career that has seen her occupy a number of agency and client-side roles. Most recently, she was regional MD of brand marketing at Burson-Marsteller.

At Cohn & Wolfe, Ong reports to global CEO Donna Imperato. The region was previously led by vice-chairman Doug Buemi, who is to retire and become an industry consultant.

"Asia-Pacific has been a crucial part of Cohn & Wolfe’s success story these past few years, as we’ve expanded into new markets, added new talent and built our offering across the region," said Imperato. "Angelina’s experience working with a wide range of blue-chip brands, combined with her leadership acumen and strong client skills, will strengthen our offering and drive increased growth across our Asian markets."

Ong’s appointment is one of three new senior leaders brought on to drive Asia-Pacific growth at Cohn & Wolfe. Earlier this month, the firm hired Harriet Gaywood as MD of mainland China. Lyle Closs has also joined as chief operating Ocficer to oversee financials, HR and professional development across Asia-Pacific.

In 2014, the agency opened two additional wholly owned offices in Thailand and the Philippines, growing its Asia-Pacific offering to 10 markets, up from just two countries less than three years ago.
