CHICAGO — Constellation Brands — whose brands include Corona Light, Robert Mondavi and Svedka Vodka — has promoted Mike McGrew to chief communications and corporate social responsibility officer.

In the newly created EVP role, McGrew will oversee all aspects of the company’s communications efforts including internal and external communications, brand PR, corporate branding and reputation, investor relations and corporate social responsibility. He will serve as a member of the company’s executive management committee and report to president and CEO Bill Newlands.

McGrew has been part of Constellation’s communications function since 2014, most recently leading corporate communications as a senior VP. Before that he led the communications & brand PR function for Constellation Brands' beer division.

“The company continues to benefit from Mike’s deep experience and expertise in leading impactful communication strategies for our top business priorities,” said Newlands. “He will play an integral role on our executive management team, ensuring that as we grow and evolve as a company, we will continue to deliver comprehensive communications to all of our important stakeholders with clarity and consistency of messaging.”

McGrew’s promotion comes at a time when Constellation’s suite of Corona products — Corona Extra, Corona Light and Corona Premium — are at risk of flagging sales due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a 5W Public Relations survey that found 38% of US beer drinkers wouldn't order a Corona at this time.
