NEW YORK—Maria Cristina González Noguera has been appointed senior vice president, global public affairs, at the Estée Lauder Companies. She will report to William Lauder, executive chairman, and Fabrizio Freda, president and chief executive officer, and will be responsible for strengthening the company’s public affairs and global government relations strategies. From June 2013 to May 2015, González Noguera was special assistant to the President and the director of communications to First Lady Michelle Obama. Prior to then, she was a vice president in corporate communications at The Estée Lauder Companies for more than eight years.

NEW YORK—Girl Scouts of the USA, the largest leadership organization for girls, has appointed Christine Cea as its chief communications executive. Cea will be responsible for public relations, social media, enterprise communications, and reputation management for Girl Scouts nationally, as well as annual campaigns. Previously, Cea was senior director of marketing communications at Unilever for eight years, leading brand public relations, earned social media, and health and wellness marketing for US food and personal care brands. Prior to that, Cea was global consumer brand marketing practice leader at Porter Novelli.

WASHINGTON, DC—The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, named Jay Brown as its new communications director. Brown, currently HRC’s director of research and public education, will serve as an organizational spokesperson and lead a team responsible for advocating for LGBT equality in the media as well as supporting and amplifying HRC programs. Liz Halloran, who has led communications for the HRC Foundation, has also been promoted to deputy communications director.

NEW YORK—Peloton, an at-home fitness company that provides access to live and on-demand fitness group classes, has hired Lori Marcus as chief marketing officer. Marcus has more than 20 years of experience in senior marketing and general management roles with Keurig Green Mountain, where she was most recently chief global brand and product officer; The Children’s Place retail stores; Nielsen Marketing Research; and PepsiCo.
