SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO — Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s destination marketing organization, is reviewing its PR agency support.

DPR is looking for an agency to handle PR in the mainland US with the goal of positioning Puerto Rico as a premier travel destination. Ketchum is the incumbent agency.

The RFP, accessible here, was issued earlier today. DPR also issued RFPs for website development and digital media planning and buying, also with the goal of driving visitors to the island. The incumbent digital agency is Miles Partnership.

A local industry task force will participate in the selection process together with members of Discover Puerto Rico’s executive leadership team. DPR expects to announce results no later than October 31.

“Discover Puerto Rico believes in leveraging tourism as a powerful sector to drive economic impact for the Island. Strong agency partners, alongside our talented local team, are critical to the development and execution of innovative strategies in both earned media, and across our digital properties, including paid media.  As a premier travel destination with a vibrant culture and amazing natural beauty, we are eager to discover world-class partners who can help us tell the incredible stories that only come to life here.” said CMO Leah Chandler.

The search for a new PR agency comes after more than five years of efforts to bring Puerto Rico tourism back to life after repeated crisis including hurricanes, earthquakes, political unrest and Covid. By last year, however, tourism was at a high.
