BENGALURU—Goldman Sachs has called in Weber Shandwick as its PR agency of record in India after a competitive review.

The move comes after Goldman previously worked with Ipan Hill+Knowlton Strategies. The Holmes Report understands that at least four firms pitched for the business, with Weber Shandwick prevailing.

Weber Shandwick takes charge of a remit that includes PR and communications for all of Goldman's various products in the market. Goldman has had its own Indian presence since 2006, with a service offering that spans investment banking, securities and investment management and research.

The US company is also active in private equity and principal investing in India, deploying more than $2bn in capital in 2006. The firm employs 5,400 people at its Bengaluru office.
