SHENZHEN, CHINA —Hill+Knowlton Strategies has opened an office in Shenzhen, the tech hub known as the Silicon Valley of China, while bringing on a new executive to lead the agency’s regional team.

The new office brings to five the number of H+K operations in greater China, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong. The move strengthens the firm’s capabilities serving the tech industry, including the rapidly growing fintech sector, the agency said in announcing the launch.

Florence Ouyang, an 18-year industry vet, has been hired as director, as which she will oversee H+K’s growing South China team, the firm said. She joins from TCL Communication, where she served as global communications director.

“Florence’s appointment and our opening in Shenzhen formalizes work we already have underway with some of China’s biggest brands in Shenzhen, helping them achieve their domestic and global ambitions and giving them access to the best of Hill+Knowlton Strategies internationally,” said H+K China president and CEO QC Liang,

The Shenzhen expansion is the latest step in H+K’s long history in China. The firm opened its first office there 34 years ago.
