SAN FRANCISCO — Tech company Island has tapped Big Valley Marketing to handle its communications business.

Island, which makes enterprise browsers, hired BVM following a relationship with Matter, which CMO Ellen Roeckl lauded for its work launching the company and securing investments.

Roeckl said BVM’s remit, however, is focused on driving adoption of Island’s product by communicating its “simplicity and potential without chest beating.” Targeting business needs, Island’s browsers include security, productivity and automation features that consumer browsers don’t have.

"We feel like we are in a situation to actually change the game,” she said. “We honestly believe that this is a significant innovation that is going to change the way people work.”

Launched in 2020, Island is the brainchild of Michael Fey, a former Symantec and McAfee executive, and Dan Amiga, who also worked at Symantec after it acquired his earlier venture, Fireglass.

The company, which has a $1.3 billion valuation, raised $175 million in its series B funding funding round last year.
