NEW YORK — MikeWorldWide has acquired Sēd Communications, a boutique agency focused on launching and growing startups.

Sēd founder Loretta Markevics — formerly DeVries Global’s chief strategy and creative officer — will join MWW as the firm’s first chief growth officer.

Markevics will be focused on accelerating the growth of the agency by strengthening strategy, creative and marketing capabilities. She also will oversee creative services, strategy, research and insights and marketing and business development functions globally.

Markevics will continue to lead Sēd. The boutique will continue to operate as a subsidiary of MWW.

"Loretta's impressive track record in developing award-winning creative and strategies for renowned brands and building agency capabilities, coupled with her entrepreneurial drive will bring about significant transformation for MWW as we enter our next phase of growth," said MWW founder and CEO Michael Kempner. "The more we can break down barriers between practices and services, the better experience we can give to clients and employees. Further integrating core services such as creative, strategy, and research under Loretta’s leadership will create synergies across the business and strengthen our overall work product."

Markevics launched Sēd in 2020 after more than two decades in PR and advertising with an eye on driving growth for startups. Sēd’s client roster includes Renogy, Get Joy, Gladskin, Vaxa, and Bare Zero Proof, among others.

Before Sēd, Markevics spent five years as DeVries’ chief strategy and creative officer and was Porter Novelli’s global creative strategy and planning director before that.

Sēd is MWW’s second acquisition this year. In January, the agency bought tech agency MRB Public Relations, bolstering its expertise in specialties including information technology and cybersecurity.
