NEW YORK — MMC has struck a partnership with nonprofit ProVention Health Foundation with an eye on improving healthcare through a range of community initiatives addressing chronic diseases.

“Health, and being ‘healthy’, is more than just eating right, exercising, and seeing a doctor,” said Dr. Kavin Shah, MMC executive director of healthcare, medical and corporate strategy. “It is the relationship between behaviors, the physical and social environments, socioeconomic status and policy.”

The MMC/ProVention partnership will focus on identifying health inequities and addressing the problem through a three-pronged approach that includes:

  • The development and implementation of programs that target public health challenges — heart health, obesity and maternal and child health among others. Programs will be tailored to meet the specific needs of local, diverse communities.

  • Expanding the reach of existing initiatives done by ProVention and its sister organization, the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. Focusses will include providing a range of resources to individuals living with chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

  • Creating a first-of-its-kind data platform that ensures every healthcare program and accompanied communications plan is focused on the right local communities and those in need.

"MMC recognizes the significance of fostering partnerships with public and government health agencies to maximize the positive impact on public health," said Shah.

“By joining forces with ProVention, MMC is poised to provide its clients with access to expertise, resources, and networks that can drive significant health outcomes, on both a personal and population level. This strategic partnership will also offer an unparalleled opportunity to customize and implement programs that make a direct impact at the micro-local, community level. By leveraging the strengths of both organizations, we are poised to make an indelible and meaningful difference in the lives of those that need it most,” he said.

ProVention works with NACDD and 7,000 member organizations to foster disease prevention and management. The organization's programs are build through partnerships with federal, state, and local health agencies, numerous community coalitions, councils, committees, and an extensive pool of public health subject matter experts in every state and US jurisdiction.
