BOSTON — Prudential’s Laura Burke has been named Santander’s US chief communications officer, succeeding Raschelle Burton who has moved to Wells Fargo.

Burke will be responsible for all executive and corporate communications, crisis and issues management, employee communications, brand communications, public relations, and social media strategies for Santander’s US businesses. She also will oversee the promotion of Santander’s mission, vision, and brand to both internal and external stakeholders.

Burke joins Santander from Prudential Financial, where she led corporate and brand communications and served as communications COO. Previously, Burke was an Edelman executive VP and held leadership roles at FTI Consulting and Hill & Knowlton.

Meantime, Burton, who spent five years as Santander’s CCO, exited the company in July to join Wells Fargo, where she leads corporate reputation communications.  Before joining Santander, Burton spent six years at Wells Fargo in senior communications roles.
