SANTA MONICA, CA — Rebecca Hahn, the former OutCast partner who joined Bird a year ago, has been named the scooter-sharing company’s first chief communications officer.

In her new role, Hahn directs all global communications, public affairs, brand and marketing efforts of the company. She also leads the management of Bird’s external vision and oversees all communication touch points including media relations, brand design, community engagement, and integrated marketing.

Hahn’s promotion to CCO comes a year after she left the OutCast Agency after nearly a decade to join Bird as its senior VP of communications and public affairs. During her tenure at OutCast, she established the company’s Los Angeles-based office and led teams to develop and implement integrated media strategies spanning consumer, business and technology audiences.

In her new position, Hahn will report to Travis VanderZanden, the former Uber and Lyft exec who launched Bird in 2017. Bird, which allows riders to access electric scooters using an app, operates in more than 100 cities in the US, Europe and Asia.
