NEW YORK—The Mexican State of Sinaloa has selected Ogilvy Public Relations as its global media relations, public affairs and stakeholder communications agency of record. Ogilvy PR is charged with implementing an aggressive campaign to drive tourism growth and foreign investment in Sinaloa (Mazatlan) while at the same time protecting its brand from external criticism.

Ogilvy PR is also the global public relations agency of record for the Mexico Tourism Board and has worked with the Government of Mexico for the past 18 months to refocus the media dialogue around the world and reclaim Mexico's international voice, which many in the country believed had been widely misrepresented.

"Ogilvy PR is carrying out a hugely successful campaign for Mexico, helping to shift perceptions and balance the media conversation," says Oralia Rice, Sinaloa's Secretary of Tourism. "Its prowess in government communications was a deciding factor for us."

The account will be serviced from Ogilvy PR's New York office, led by its media influence team.
