WASHINGTON, DC—The leaders of Washington and Detroit-based public affairs firm Stratacomm has reacquired majority ownership and control of the company, which was acquired by FleishmanHillard in 2004. The equity transaction closed earlier this year and, after a brief transition period, the firm is now a self-sufficient company managed and operated by its partners.
“As an independent firm once again with nearly 20 years of experience… we’re excited to return to our entrepreneurial roots,” says Bill Buff, co-managing partner at Stratacomm. “This restructuring will allow us to invest in new talent and strategies both to benefit our clients and grow the firm.”
Stratacomm provides communications consultancy, primarily to clients in the transportation, energy and environment, infrastructure, and public health and safety sectors. The principals had retained an ownership stake in the company throughout its time as a FleishmanHillard company.
In conjunction with the transaction, Stratacomm has promoted Travis Austin to senior partner and named Kristin Calandro Tyll as the agency’s newest partner. Austin joins Ron DeFore, John Fitzpatrick and Buff as senior partners. The partnership roster is rounded out by Sharon Hegarty, Charlotte Seigler and John Undeland.
