AMSTERDAM—Weber Shandwick took home the Platinum SABRE Award for the best EMEA campaign of 2017 at last night’s awards ceremony in Amsterdam, winning the night’s most prestigious honor for its #toocoolforplastics campaign for UK supermarket chain Iceland—taking a leadership role in the elimination of plastic packaging.

The campaign beat out four other finalists for the Platinum award—selected from more than 2,500 entries to this year’s EMEA competition. The other top ranked campaigns were:

  • Our Freedom Is (Still) Not Granted—O2 Czech Republic and O2 Slovakia with FleishmanHillard, Seesame Communications, and Triad Advertising
  • Blood Normal—Libresse with Ketchum and Myriad PR
  • Check Your Balls—Young Cancer with Cohn & Wolfe
  • Sound So Loud You Can See It—Sony with Hope & Glory

The awards were presented during a sold-out gala dinner at Ansterdam’s Maritime Museum, attended by industry leaders from more than 30 countries across the continent.

Elsewhere it was a good night for WPP-owned global agency Hill+Knowlton Strategies and for UK independent Hope & Glory, which both took home five Gold SABRE trophies for their clients. Ogilvy and its clients earned four Gold and Diamond awards.

Other multiple winners included Ketchum, Seesame, Unity and Weber Shandwick (three SABREs each); Cohn & Wolfe, FleishmanHillard, Golin, Miltton, Red Consultancy, Tin Man, and W (two SABREs each).
