SYDNEY — European aerospace manufacturer Airbus has appointed strategic communications firm Sefiani as its public relations agency in Australia.

The agency’s remit covers the company’s entire business in Australia, including commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence and space. The account will be managed by Sefiani director Nick Owens.

Sefiani’s program of work for Airbus will cover media relations, thought leadership, social and digital content creation, media familiarisation site tours, sustainability and social purpose initiatives, forums, aerospace events participation and issues management.

There are currently 115 Airbus commercial aircraft flying with Australian airlines, and more than 330 helicopters flying in the civil and parapublic applications. Its aircraft and helicopters also support the country’s defence forces, and the company is also advancing its involvement in the local space sector.

Airbus head of communications Asia-Pacific Sean Lee said: “Australia is an important market for Airbus with huge potential for the future, including possibilities to develop new innovative partnerships. With Sefiani on board, we are confident that we will be able to enhance awareness of our full range of products and services, highlight our significant presence in Australia and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to working closely with our customers and partners in the country.”

Sefiani CEO and reputation counsel Robyn Sefiani added: “Every so often in agency life you are privileged to land your dream client. This is one of those significant occasions. We are thrilled and honoured to be working with Airbus and can’t wait to immerse ourselves in their exciting business. We have assembled a team strong in technology, aviation, defence and sustainability to manage a vibrant communications program to position Airbus as a leading partner for the Australian aviation and aerospace sector.”
