BEIJING — Yimin Wang has been promoted to lead BCW in China, replacing Qu Hong who is departing the firm in October.

Hong leaves after more than six years with the agency, including the past three as China CEO. Wang, meanwhile, has spent the past six years as a regional MD at BCW, having worked most of her career at precursor agency Burson-Marsteller.

Wang's elevation is accompanied by a restructuring that sees Shenzhen report into BCW Hong Kong, which is led by Asia-Pacific deputy CEO Polka Yu — in recognition of the many BCW Hong Kong clients that are based in the neighbouring mainland city. Accordingly, Wang will oversee BCW's operations in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

China remains BCW's biggest market by revenue in the region, thanks in large part to its roster of global clients — which includes the likes of Huawei, Lenovo, Alibaba, TCL, Oppo and Tencent.

"Yimin has led BCW’s largest and fastest growing business unit in China for the past five years, she is a proven people leader and a trusted adviser to our clients" said BCW Asia-Pacific president Matt Stafford, to whom Wang will continue to report. "As part of our succession planning, Yimin was identified early for this important role; she is now ready to lead our team in China that is several hundred strong into an exciting period of growth that we are set up for during 2024 and beyond. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Qu Hong for his instrumental role in helping BCW China become the industry-leading consultancy it is today."

In addition to her lengthy career with BCW, Wang also spent one year with key client Huawei as marketing communications director in its consumer business group.

“BCW is a trusted partner to leading multinational organizations looking to navigate the ever-changing regulatory, reputational and operational environment in China, and to Chinese brands looking to establish trust and expand impact internationally,” said Wang. “Decisions made in China are pivotal to the global success of these organizations, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead our stellar team and move people forward for our clients.”
